China Glaze Mega Bite

Every review I saw of this was basically, "Ugh what an ugly color!".  It really isn't an ugly color.  For me I was never able to pull of gold on my nails because the only gold nail polish I had was glitter (point taken).  But this is so easy to pull off because its not packed with glitter at all!
Mega Bite is from the Tronica collection from Spring 2011 (correct me if I am wrong...).  I had received this as a birthday present from my Potterhead along with CG Atlantis, CG Silver Lining, FP Peaceful Purple, and FP Guggen I'm Lime.
Indoors with a ring finger accent.

This is a lovely two coater!

Close up on the flower accent.

This was the plate of flower stickers.  I dont know the brand nor do I know how old they are.
I received them from my aunt about a year ago.
So don't go hating on me because I like the un-liked.  Its very pretty.  Though I never intended on doing this on my nubbins.  As of now, I only have three long ones.
It was an easy two coater and wore pretty well.  I am definitely wearing this again.

Happy painting,
Em

Funky Fingers Power Play and Love & Beauty Multi (Mattified)

To start, Power Play (PP) is a neon purple in the bottle and on the nail it turns darker.  PP on me ended up looking like the color in the bottle mixed with red wine.  Its like a dark-ish purple/pink/red.  Its not nearly as neon on my nails as it is in the bottle.  See?

It looks like a berry wine here! (Thats the matte talking)
I dare you, just go onto Google Images and search "funky fingers power play" and THAT is the color.  Not this.
I am giving you a fair warning.  I love this mani even despite the tip wear after two and a half days.
Lots of "fail" pictures ahead.  I warned you...

This does not look matte.  That is the sparkles from Multi.
This is the bottle color!  Not that berry crap above this pic!

Ooohh deep wine color :) (I so want a polish that actually looks like that)
Definitely matte- eh?  I had to get my looong pinky nail in a shadow to show you that in fact this IS matte.

I might just be on a sparkle high.

Another more matte picture.

Dark.  Grrr

Why does this picture for my windowsill remind me of the beach?

Ok this is the almost-perfect picture.  This has the bottle color, the glitter, and the MATTE :)
Except on the nail is not the bottle color.  Mix this and the berry/wine color and thats what is on my nails.

Ok for my matte I used Hard Candy's Matte-ly In Love.  It applied like a dream.  I might actually understand matte now.  Hmm...
PP is very bright and looks much like the bottle color before I matte-ed it.  I do love this and the tip wear is due to the matte-ness of it.

Have you ever had a total win in a manicure but a total fail taking pictures of it?!

Happy matte-ing,
Em

Harry Potter Manicure

Hello Potterheads!  The premiere of the Deathly Hallows pt. 2 is tonight at midnight.  I will say that I am not going to it.  Even though I have a Harry Potter themed manicure does not mean I follow it.  I stopped paying attention after the second movie.  But now onto the mani!
I saw some other Harry Potter themed manis but I didn't have the creativity to design one myself.  So I called on one of my favorite Potterheads.  She designed this entire thing herself and I painted it.  She never thought that I would actually do it.  So onto the pics!

This was the plan all and all.  Its actually very funny.

The bases for my left hand (L to R: Sinful Colors Snow Me White, China glaze Mega Bite, Hot Topic Green, China Glaze Mega Bite, Sinful Colors Black on Black)

The bases for my right hand (L to R: Sinful Colors Black on Black, Pure Ice Excuse Me, Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby, Pure Ice Silver Mercedes, China Glaze Mega Bite)

The final result.  Explanation in better picture.

L to R:
The Harry Potter logo which is done in black/white because that's just now it is or to show purity in a time of darkness
Ravenclaw which is one of the houses in the series and is done in gold/blue because that is their colors
This "represents Voldemort, his killing curse, and his shattered life... the green is for LV coexisting with the darkness that he has created. The green stands for the killing curse, envy, and Slytherin (LV was the last heir of him)and overall cruelty"
Gryffindor (my house!) which is purposely seperate from Slytherin and is gold/red because that is their colors
This is the Deathly Hallows symbol.  There is one on my other hand too (two symbols for two parts).

My other hand

L to R:
The other Deathly Hallows symbol.
Slytherin which is purposely separate from Gryffindor and is done in silver/green because that is their colors.
This "represents Harry and his conquer Voldemort spell.  The white stands for purity and the good he is battling for and the red stands for the struggle that he faces in his quest to overcome LV and the bloodshed"
Hufflepuff and is done in yellow/black because that is their colors.
The Harry Potter logo but this one has a silver glitter top coat because it represents light over darkness.

The colors I used:
Top row: Love and Beauty Silver, Art Club Black, Art Club Midnight Blue, Sinful Colors Snow Me White, Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby, Pure Ice Silver Mercedes, and China Glaze Mega Bite.
Bottom row: Funky Fingers White Scales, China Glaze Emerald Fitzgerald, Pure Ice Excuse Me, Sinful Colors Black on Black, Hot Topic Green, Art Club White, and OPI Black Shatter.

So that's it!  If anyone is going to the premiere tonight, have a fabulous time!

Happy "Pottering",
Em
