Disco Chicks

Hello readers!!  I got this polish (Love & Beauty Silver Glitter) over a year ago and I use it every so often.  I even have a manicure right here from like when I first started blogging!  Oh the difference!

I kinda forgot to take a lot of pictures for this, so it is a quite short post.  But to explain the name, I work at a day camp and my girls are second graders.  Our group name is the Disco Chicks and these girls are the cutest things on the planet.  And there are only eight of them.  Yes, EIGHT!  I got luckyyy.  But since these girls are the Disco Chicks, for open house and the first day of camp I thought I would do something fitting, a.k.a. disco ball nails :)

Happy summer,
Em

Wet n Wild Black Creme Etc.

Ello guys!  As I get ready for my brothers graduation, please enjoy this random post.

What I used was Wet n Wild Black Creme with Essie Shine of the Times and OPI Crown Me Already!  on top of it.  I wanted something... random.  So here is random!!
So like I said, my brother's graduation from high school is tonight so I'm going to start getting ready for that in a bit (I have to play in the band).  It is outside on the football field and it is supposed to be nearly 90 degrees tonight.  It's going to be hot and sticky and blech but I'm happy for him.  I did my nails to match our school colors/my dress.

Happy graduating,
Em

Icing Epic Winning Reswatch

To end my basketball season with a bang, I needed something.  Something... lucky.  Because even though we made it to the championship game, it was a team we lost to by one point (twice).  One shot could've made a difference in those games but whatever.  So I needed something... winning.  Enter Epic Winning :).

Shade and light.

Me loves me some holo glitter.
Love it in shade too.

Like before, it was a pain in the ass to apply.  Like thick and ewww but it looks SOO cool.  Worth it :).  Only two coats this time.
We did lose the game (by one point, shocker), but it was a hard fought game.  We had a really good team and we played hard.  Personally, I'll take second place any day.

Happy glittering,
Em

Revlon Carbonite

Hello blogopshere!  Want to hear a funny story?  I am extremely backlogged on posting.  Like 13 drafts backlogged...  And then there are those awkward moments when I have a beautiful manicure that lasts two days and I forget to take pictures of it...  Hate those days...
But today, I've got a manicure from late February.  Revlon Carbonite.  This lasted like a few days on me.  Manicures on me = don't last too long.  But it is G O R G E O U S!  So worth getting!
I love how it looks gritty and grungy.

Bottle shott
Here you can see it's dimentions.

Silver here.

Sorry for lack of cleanup but THIS RIGHT HERE IS WHY I LOVE IT!

Carbonite is a well-known pretty much dupe for Chanel Graphite.  I love both colors and from not owning Graphite, I can't say whether they are real dupes or not.  Sorry :(.
But it is this silver with gold shimmer and it looks like slightly rusted metal.  I am totally in love with it. If you see it, get it.  You won't be sorry.  This is two? three? coats shown here.

GOSH HOLOGRAPHIC

Okay, pictures first, then I talk.  And in advance, I apologize for the holographic picture overload that you may or may not endure. ;)  (The better pictures are towards the bottom, with the better camera)
Bottle shot, full sunlight (in summer).

Again.

Three coats of holographic, no top coat.

:O

Win.  Nothing but win.
Specifics of what I used: 1 coat of base coat (regular, not aqua), 3 coats of color.  No top coat, no special base coats.  It didn't last for long, like 4 days tops.  But OMG to have such a coveted color of such an epic win.  GOSH! (lol)
Not much to say about this that you can't already see.  If you got it, yay you!  If you haven't, the only places to get it are through ebay ($39 minimum) or a giveaway (how I got mine).

:D

We need more polishes like this.

Double rainbow all the way... Jk

The green shift

Full holo rainbow power!

Last one I promise!
Again, after wearing it for a second time (and in the middle of winter I dare say), I still love it.  I didn't want to take it off, but after it became the manicure during my breakup, I kinda wanted to.  But you know what sadness means?  More polishes! (4 more to be exact :P)
So drool all over your keyboard (as long as you clean it up) and try to find a silver holo, depending on where you live it can be easy to find one or pretty damn hard.  Especially for a discontinued European one.  TO SEE A COMPARISON OF SOME SILVER HOLO POLISHES GO HERE!!!

Happy holo-ing,
Em

Late Hanukkah Mani

Oh my very special holiday, I haven't forgotten about you!

Ta-da!

It wasn't my best mani, but it served its very festive purpose.
For this mani I used China Glaze First Mate with OPI Silver Shatter for everything but for the ring fingers I used Pure Ice Silver Mercedes and the Art Club striper in Midnight Blue.
I was really surprised about how much shimmer Silver Shatter had!  What me and my best friend did was she got Pink Shatter, I got Silver Shatter ($5.99 each) and we got Speak For Your-Elf! free!!!

Happy Hanukkah!

Pure Ice Silver Mercedes

Silver Mercedes is a classic, metallic silver.  I love it.  It is the only non-glitter silver that I own. :)
My ultimate silver.

Two to three coats

Shiiiiiiiiiiiny

You can see its a teeny bit streaky.  Thats metallic for you.

Happy metallicing,
Em

Icing Epic Winning

Doesn't everyone remember this guy?  I sure do...
Charlie Sheen! (photo from Google Images)
Well if you aren't in the loop then you don't know that Icing has three nail polishes named after him; Epic Winning, Tiger's Blood, and Rockstar From Mars.  I didn't pick up the last one though.
But I was going to a mall that has an Icing in it (I was so excited!) because the closest one to me is 45 minutes away.  I had seen Epic Winning on the shelf and eventually decided to get it when I hadn't seen Tiger's Blood which was my main objective.  But at the register there were a few bottles of Tiger's Blood and I was like OMG it was just sitting there waiting for me!  Eek!!!
Without more chattering, here is Epic Winning (and it actually wins epically).

Bam!

Three coats glitter, one top coat.

Love in a bottle...

Pointer, middle, and pinky all have one coat of a blue and (I think) only one coat of Epic Winning.
Ring finger has one coat of black and (I think) only one coat of Epic Winning.
I am in love with it over black.

Gah!!!!
There you have it, one of my new favorite loves.  It is a thiiiiiiick glitter but the result is well worth the difficult application and the icky brush (I hate it!  Too big!) and the rip-off bottle (exactly like China Glaze's).
  Sigh...

Happy winning,
Em

China Glaze Silver Lining

Another one from my birthday!!  I never thought that this could be opaque but it is!!!!!!!!!  I am not sure what collection it is or if it is from the core line...
This reminds me of a happier time... (cue sappy music)  This reminds me of my second or third grade birthday party at a roller rink where my best guyfriend came before he moved to Virginia.  Even though he wasn't the one who gave me the bottle of nail polish that this reminds me of.  Someone else did.  I still have the bottle and the little pink purse it came with...
In the shade.  It kind of looks like a foil here, doesn't it?
Before you think this, NO IT IS NOT HOLO.  It is just super shiny :)
WOW!
Sigh... I am so glad I finally tried this one.  I feel that this is too opaque to be worn as a glitter on top of another color.  Surprisingly, I do not fear removal of this.  I think that the glitter in this is small enough to come off easily.  And a bonus, one coat of top coat takes away the gritty feel of it!!!
I feel like a need a red silk dress or a little black dress to go with this.  If I was walking the red carpet, I would walk it with this on my nails.  :)
  This is what I needed.

Happy glittering,
Em

Harry Potter Manicure

Hello Potterheads!  The premiere of the Deathly Hallows pt. 2 is tonight at midnight.  I will say that I am not going to it.  Even though I have a Harry Potter themed manicure does not mean I follow it.  I stopped paying attention after the second movie.  But now onto the mani!
I saw some other Harry Potter themed manis but I didn't have the creativity to design one myself.  So I called on one of my favorite Potterheads.  She designed this entire thing herself and I painted it.  She never thought that I would actually do it.  So onto the pics!

This was the plan all and all.  Its actually very funny.

The bases for my left hand (L to R: Sinful Colors Snow Me White, China glaze Mega Bite, Hot Topic Green, China Glaze Mega Bite, Sinful Colors Black on Black)

The bases for my right hand (L to R: Sinful Colors Black on Black, Pure Ice Excuse Me, Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby, Pure Ice Silver Mercedes, China Glaze Mega Bite)

The final result.  Explanation in better picture.

L to R:
The Harry Potter logo which is done in black/white because that's just now it is or to show purity in a time of darkness
Ravenclaw which is one of the houses in the series and is done in gold/blue because that is their colors
This "represents Voldemort, his killing curse, and his shattered life... the green is for LV coexisting with the darkness that he has created. The green stands for the killing curse, envy, and Slytherin (LV was the last heir of him)and overall cruelty"
Gryffindor (my house!) which is purposely seperate from Slytherin and is gold/red because that is their colors
This is the Deathly Hallows symbol.  There is one on my other hand too (two symbols for two parts).

My other hand

L to R:
The other Deathly Hallows symbol.
Slytherin which is purposely separate from Gryffindor and is done in silver/green because that is their colors.
This "represents Harry and his conquer Voldemort spell.  The white stands for purity and the good he is battling for and the red stands for the struggle that he faces in his quest to overcome LV and the bloodshed"
Hufflepuff and is done in yellow/black because that is their colors.
The Harry Potter logo but this one has a silver glitter top coat because it represents light over darkness.

The colors I used:
Top row: Love and Beauty Silver, Art Club Black, Art Club Midnight Blue, Sinful Colors Snow Me White, Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby, Pure Ice Silver Mercedes, and China Glaze Mega Bite.
Bottom row: Funky Fingers White Scales, China Glaze Emerald Fitzgerald, Pure Ice Excuse Me, Sinful Colors Black on Black, Hot Topic Green, Art Club White, and OPI Black Shatter.

So that's it!  If anyone is going to the premiere tonight, have a fabulous time!

Happy "Pottering",
Em
