Back to school!

My manicure back on the first day of school.
What I did was put on China Glaze Emerald Fitzgerald and matte-ify it as a green chalkboard, use China Glaze Stone Cold for the grey chalkboard, and Wet n Wild French White for the white, and azure and pink nail art pens.  And I used a white on to write 2014 on my thumbs.  Everything I matte-d.

Happy schooling,
Em

Josh's Graduation!

Hey guys!  Again, sorry about the lack of posting, things have been very crazy lately...
But my brother graduated last month (2 years older than I) and I did this manicure to represent our high school colors, navy and white.  I'm very big in school pride so I mix these a lot...

The blue is China Glaze First Mate and the White is Wet n Wild French White.  Looking at these nails these days it's like OMG nubbins!!  So yeah mine right now are much longerrrr.  Not like very long just longer than I am used to.
I cried at graduation.  This is my sibling that is closest in age to me and therefore he was my buddy and I love him <3.

Happy graduation,
Em

Fourth of July Manicure!

Happy late American Independence Day!   Here is my manicure in all it's gore.  I used the plastic bag method to do this which I am way too lazy to explain.  I did it for the stripes.

The base color is OPI Swimsuit... Nailed It! and I used Wet n Wild French White and China Glaze Hey Sailor for the stripes.
I am very very lazy today so thats just about it!  And just FYI, I hate hate hate how this turned out...

Happy celebrating,
Em

Spring Splatter Mani :)

I did this all the way back in March when Spring first started.  For this I used Love & Beauty Olive (the blue), Zoya Pippa (yellow), and Funky Fingers Cheshire (purple) and Wet n Wild French White for the base to splatter over.

Err, kinda failed couple of fingers.

Even though it really doesn't appear like it, I think it came out very well.  The colors worked very well together and it looked actually pretty good.  I like it.
Err, not really much to say about it, but I got newer, smaller straws for splattering.

Happy splattering,
Em

Wet n Wild French White with Funky Fingers Teal Scales

So after my fail with Teal Scales, I decided to go a different route.  A more basic route...  Enter Wet n Wild French White!!

There we go!  Beautiful shimmer.  It doesnt really appear as gorgeous as it would look over a darker color but it is still pretty nice.  I like it.  I actually forced myself to take this off.
2 coats white, 1 coat shatter.  My usual base + top coats.

Happy shattering,
Em

Wet n Wild French White with Essie Shine of the Times

I used Essie's Shine of the Times over black back here.  I recently bought a second one of it because it is JUST THAT AWESOME!!
Two coats

With SOTT, it looks awesomeeee!

Yeah I took a lot of pictures.
Full spectrum of it.
Instead of the full spectrum of color over black, I wanted to try an awesome, yet less out there combination.  And I couldn't be happier.  It looks pretty damn cool.
If you've got a white creme and a flakie polish, definitely try it.

Happy flaking,
Em

R U RAH RAH?

Back in February (I think) my family went to a Rutgers men's basketball game (I thiiiiiink they lost, don't quote me on that).  All I can really remember was criticizing Josh with Dan and singing stand tunes with Josh.  Being a band geek, you know every stand tune out there ;).
But this is the manicure I wore to the game.  One freaking fail of a manicure.
China Glaze Hey Sailor with Funky Fingers White Scales on all but my ring fingers.
Wet n Wild French White on the accent finger.
Like, freaking look at it!  The red was like "heh heh heh it would be funny if I smudged.  ALL OVER THE WHITE!"
Grr.  I was notttt happy with the final result of this.  But all in all, GO RUTGERS!  (I know they are out of March Madness already :-/)

Happy cheering,
Em

Del Sol Reckless

A nice white shimmery cream.  Three coats.

Perfect hand position.
I was unable to get a picture of this in the sun.  I had put it on on a Tuesday and it came fully off on Wednesday night.  It was a combination of bubbles from the heat and picking at it during Marching Band that night.
This was my first day of school manicure.  It was made me fall in love with my favorite top coat (and light pinks) again.

Happy color changing,
Em

BCA Month

This was my mani to show my support this October for BCA month.  Pink streak in my hair and all...
I liked it pre-shatter.

That's really it.  There's nothing to say except think about what it means to you.

Happy supporting,
Em

Disco Nails

dELiA*s Neon Pink from the quad.  I gave this pink the most awkward look when I first put it on.

I hate pink nail polish.  But this looked so good on me and I liked the general shade with the blue hidden shimmer.  I just haaaaaaaate pink nail polish.  So I didn't know what to think.

Once I taped off the black and the white, it washed the pink out.  Like seriously.  It looks like friggn salmon here!

And now it's all shiny with top coat.  I was planning on matte-ing this to make it look like an old diner floor but it came off within a few days.

So that's my decently cool, creative manicure.  I actually got a lot of compliments on it but I needed something that wasn't pink.  I try to avoid it...
DOESN'T THIS REMIND YOU OF A DISCO FLOOR OR AN OLD BLACK AND WHITE DINER FLOOR WITH A TWIST????????

Happy dinering,
Em

Lemonade Anyone?

  Finally!  A successful water marble!!!
Just to go on a quick semi-rant, I did this for away band camp.  But because Hurricane Irene is about to slam where I live, away band camp got changed.  It was supposed to be 3 days at home, 1 off day, 4 days away.  Now it is turning out to be 3 days at home, 1 off day, another day home, another off day, 2 days away.  But my brother and I have decided to accept this as the best possible decision that could've been made.
My pictures are jumping around again.  This picture was supposed to be at the very end.
So now this manicure is probably not going to go to away band camp :P
I am extremely happy with this.
My extremely pretty favorite nail.
Blogger, please cooperate with me.  Alas, my pictures are still not in order.

Happy marbling,
Em

Lets Go Mets! (for game on 8/20/11)

Ok I did this Mets manicure with Ogre-the-Top Blue (blue) and
:)
Again blogger is screwing up the order of my pictures.  Why blogger?  Why??
Niice.  Please ignore the dye all over my hands.  I was tie-dying before I took these pics.
We lost 11-9 but it was a very interesting game.  Several lead changes and a fire.  Very fun :)

Happy shattering,
Em

Splatter Manicure (A First!)

I was so excited to do this (after I waited on my Deborah Lippmann manicure)!  But let me just say this took forever.  Though it looks so cool so I don't care! :)
I did this at like 9am right after my brother left for work and I walked back into my house after finishing this and it was 11:10am!  But that evening when I was at my best friends house she wanted me to do a splatter mani for her too.  She used a light taupe shimmer for her base (I don't know the name, sorry!) and we splattered with China Glaze Yellow Polka Dot Bikini, Sinful Colors Pink Cream, and OPI Ogre-the-Top Blue.  I don't have pictures of her manicure because I did it at night and when I was at her house the next afternoon, it had already chipped because she failed to put on top coat *tsk tsk*.
But on my splatter mani, I used Sinful Colors Snow Me White as a base and I splattered with Sinful Colors Cream Pink, Funky Fingers Riot, and Funky Fingers 220 Volts.  I wanted to use cheaper nail polish (SC were $2 each at Target and FF were 3 for $5 at Five Below) in case it looked very bad (but luckily it didn't).
I used the tutorial from Jen at The PolishAholic to do this mani.  The size straw I used was smaller than a McDonald's straw but about the size of a Starbucks straw that you use to drink your coffee.  I also decided to add shimmer in Pure Ice Oh Baby on top of the splatter :)

The plate that I splattered over.
Left thumb.  Very blurry (I know :P).  This was the first nail I splattered.  I think I did a pretty good job :)

Left hand.  Looks pretty good, eh?

Extremely blurry right thumb.  I will explain later...
My two favorite fingers (right ring and right pinky).
My workspace.  Sad isn't it?
The Deborah Lippmann set I just picked up from Nordstrom during their anniversary sale!

Right hand.  If you're wondering, my computer is from when I searched "Youtube myspace and I'll google your yahoo!"

Okay I have a few things to explain about this post.  First of all, I am starting to watermark my pictures.  I don't fear people stealing them, I just want it to be made known that they are mine (and just in case someone tries to take them).
Also, I am ashamed at the quality of my pictures.  They really suck and I really do know it.  I have my Nikon at home but its really not cooperating.  The last time I can remember it cooperating was about early June.  But it won't focus so I do have to post the sucky quality of my phone pictures.  I might try Mom's phone's pictures soon...
In addition to that, Blogger decided not to cooperate with me today so all my pictures are out of order.  I apologize for that...
Finally, I am scheduling posts.  The first one I did this with was China Glaze Mega Bite post.  This is because the mani before that lasted only a few days and I'm trying to stay weekly :).

Okay I love love love this!  Enjoy!

Happy splattering!
