Fourth of July Manicure!

Happy late American Independence Day!   Here is my manicure in all it's gore.  I used the plastic bag method to do this which I am way too lazy to explain.  I did it for the stripes.

The base color is OPI Swimsuit... Nailed It! and I used Wet n Wild French White and China Glaze Hey Sailor for the stripes.
I am very very lazy today so thats just about it!  And just FYI, I hate hate hate how this turned out...

Happy celebrating,
Em

Butter LONDON Knees Up BLOGOVERSARY!!!!

Hello people of the polish world!!!  I know you've already seen a post from me today (probably like within the past hour), BUT I have a reason I promise.
Today is May 15th!  And do you know what that means?????????  One year.  One year of blogging to the world about polish (and whatever is on my mind at that moment).  One lovely year.  This is probably the longest I've kept up something this consistent that I LOVE.  I LOVE blogging about polish, I LOVE wearing polish, and I LOVE buying polish (though my wallet may not...).
So anyway, here is my celebratory ONE YEAR BLOG-O-VERSARY manicure!
BUTTER LONDON KNEES UP
A red chrome-ish polish

Full sunlight

:D

Bottle shot

Such a gorgeous polish (that I am actually currently wearing)!  What I did was put on a very thin coat of base coat to prevent it from bubbling and I put on two coats the right way; all brushstrokes in the same direction, all even, etc.  This way it looks AH-MAY-ZING!  I got this last summer (umm and I paid full price for it ($15 later...)) to replace my mini bottle of an OPI polish (that I ADORE) and I was waiting for a special time to wear it, like when my nails got longer.  But I thought a blog-o-versary was a special enough time :).
So 2 coats of polish and my usual base + top coat.  Boy does this baby make my nails stand out!
OH!  Aaaaaand this is my 100th post!!!! 100 posts in 1 year!!!! (and 27 followers gained ;D)  I love you all and thank you for supporting me!

Happy Blog-O-Versary!

R U RAH RAH?

Back in February (I think) my family went to a Rutgers men's basketball game (I thiiiiiink they lost, don't quote me on that).  All I can really remember was criticizing Josh with Dan and singing stand tunes with Josh.  Being a band geek, you know every stand tune out there ;).
But this is the manicure I wore to the game.  One freaking fail of a manicure.
China Glaze Hey Sailor with Funky Fingers White Scales on all but my ring fingers.
Wet n Wild French White on the accent finger.
Like, freaking look at it!  The red was like "heh heh heh it would be funny if I smudged.  ALL OVER THE WHITE!"
Grr.  I was notttt happy with the final result of this.  But all in all, GO RUTGERS!  (I know they are out of March Madness already :-/)

Happy cheering,
Em

Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby and Love & Beauty Red Glitter

This was from FOREVERRRR ago.  It took me a while to find the pictures too.  Luckily I know how to navigate Gmail easily and found these.  Awesome :)
Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby is a red jelly.

Love & Beauty Red Glitter is a, uh, red glitter, lol.

Red glitter is super shiny :D

It has small red glitter, medium red glitter, and large-ish red hex glitter.  The other two are just circular I believe.

I felt like I was from the Wizard of Oz with this manicure.

Glitter is a girl's best friend :)
I love it.  I felt like Dorothy (not like Dorothy Who? which I still can't wait to try.  This manicure was from like... November so I don't remember much about it, sorry :(.
But that's it for now.  Expect a lot soon :)

Happy glittering,
Em

Essie Luxeffects: Shine of the Times (over SC Black on Black)

This polish... Oh this polish is a stunner.
Funny story!  Our class finished our work in Spanish early on Monday or Tuesday and one girl told the girl in front of her to look at her nails.  I was sitting right next to her so I took a look too.  Turns out, she was wearing the Essie Luxeffects A Cut Above (see it on Scrangie here!).  And the girl asked her what it was.  She couldn't remember so I chimed in and told her it was from the Essie Luxeffects collection.  She said that I was right and how did I know that?  I held my nails in front of her and said that I got one from the same collection.  She was amazed by how much this polish does :).
So my first Essie.  A stunner.  So happy I finally got a flakie topcoat.  I wanted Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure soooo badly, but I couldn't find it anywhere.  But Shine of the Times is a HT, 2010, GOSH Rainbow, etc.  It is the coveted flakies.  And it was a justified price too.  $8.00 plus tax, not terrible.
One coat over black.  It looks green in some lights...
And a fiery orange/red in others

Fingers at various lights to show difference and range of these flakies
So so so so so so so soooooo so awesome!  *falls on floor in happiness*
Go and buy it.  Now.  I'm serious.

Happy flaking,
Em

P.S.- Plus, this was my New Years' manicure.  Talk about starting 2012 off with a bang!

Harry Potter Manicure

Hello Potterheads!  The premiere of the Deathly Hallows pt. 2 is tonight at midnight.  I will say that I am not going to it.  Even though I have a Harry Potter themed manicure does not mean I follow it.  I stopped paying attention after the second movie.  But now onto the mani!
I saw some other Harry Potter themed manis but I didn't have the creativity to design one myself.  So I called on one of my favorite Potterheads.  She designed this entire thing herself and I painted it.  She never thought that I would actually do it.  So onto the pics!

This was the plan all and all.  Its actually very funny.

The bases for my left hand (L to R: Sinful Colors Snow Me White, China glaze Mega Bite, Hot Topic Green, China Glaze Mega Bite, Sinful Colors Black on Black)

The bases for my right hand (L to R: Sinful Colors Black on Black, Pure Ice Excuse Me, Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby, Pure Ice Silver Mercedes, China Glaze Mega Bite)

The final result.  Explanation in better picture.

L to R:
The Harry Potter logo which is done in black/white because that's just now it is or to show purity in a time of darkness
Ravenclaw which is one of the houses in the series and is done in gold/blue because that is their colors
This "represents Voldemort, his killing curse, and his shattered life... the green is for LV coexisting with the darkness that he has created. The green stands for the killing curse, envy, and Slytherin (LV was the last heir of him)and overall cruelty"
Gryffindor (my house!) which is purposely seperate from Slytherin and is gold/red because that is their colors
This is the Deathly Hallows symbol.  There is one on my other hand too (two symbols for two parts).

My other hand

L to R:
The other Deathly Hallows symbol.
Slytherin which is purposely separate from Gryffindor and is done in silver/green because that is their colors.
This "represents Harry and his conquer Voldemort spell.  The white stands for purity and the good he is battling for and the red stands for the struggle that he faces in his quest to overcome LV and the bloodshed"
Hufflepuff and is done in yellow/black because that is their colors.
The Harry Potter logo but this one has a silver glitter top coat because it represents light over darkness.

The colors I used:
Top row: Love and Beauty Silver, Art Club Black, Art Club Midnight Blue, Sinful Colors Snow Me White, Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby, Pure Ice Silver Mercedes, and China Glaze Mega Bite.
Bottom row: Funky Fingers White Scales, China Glaze Emerald Fitzgerald, Pure Ice Excuse Me, Sinful Colors Black on Black, Hot Topic Green, Art Club White, and OPI Black Shatter.

So that's it!  If anyone is going to the premiere tonight, have a fabulous time!

Happy "Pottering",
Em
